<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article analyzes a fragment from “Self-portrait of Rubens surrounded by friends from Mantua” (1606), Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne, in which the artist portrayed himself, brother Philip, J. Lipsius, and the scholar philologist, Lipsius’ like-minded Caspar Shoppe. The question of who else is presented in the group portrayed yet causes debate. The article considers the view that the portrait of Galileo is depicted in the portrait opposite Rubens, and the meaning of the community depicted in the portrait is to represent the discussion that Rubens contemporaries led around the new model of the world proposed by Galileo.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Рубенс</kwd><kwd>Галилей</kwd><kwd>картина мира</kwd><kwd>звездный вестник</kwd><kwd>телескоп</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Rubens</kwd><kwd>Galileo</kwd><kwd>model of the world</kwd><kwd>Sidereus Nuncius</kwd><kwd>telescope</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Галилей 1964 – Галилей Г.
