<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Philip Johnson earned the reputation of being one of the major architects of the 20 century and has rightly become the first winner of the Pritzker Prize. Echoes of the influence of stylistic and structural features of his designs can be identified today in the works of the greatest contemporary architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Norman Foster and Renzo Piano. But Philip Johnson, being an American architect, in his turn, learned from European architects and adopted their traditions, sometimes literally quoting his predecessors. What examples he relied upon when creating his first project and how he was able to develop personal approach to an architecture? Answering this question will allow us to understand more global process of how European modernism was borrowed in America and became the basis for the international style of the architecture after 1950.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>интернациональный стиль</kwd><kwd>модернизм</kwd><kwd>постмодернизм</kwd><kwd>Филипп Джонсон</kwd><kwd>Мис ван дер Роэ</kwd><kwd>Ле Корбюзье</kwd><kwd>Фрэнк Ллойд Райт</kwd><kwd>Стеклянный дом</kwd><kwd>минимализм</kwd><kwd>принцип «less is more» (англ. «меньше значит лучше»)</kwd><kwd>international style</kwd><kwd>modernism</kwd><kwd>postmodernism</kwd><kwd>Philip Johnson</kwd><kwd>Mies van der Rohe</kwd><kwd>Le Corbusier</kwd><kwd>Frank Lloyd Wright</kwd><kwd>The Glass House</kwd><kwd>minimalism</kwd><kwd>less is more principle</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Hitchcock H.-R., Johnson Ph.
