Eidos in the Philosophy of Archbishop Nicanor (Brovkovich) and Monad in the Philosophy of G.V. Leibniz
Abstract
The article analyzes the influence of Leibniz’s philosophy at the philosophy of Archbishop Nicanor (Brovkovich). One of the most important aspects of the philosophy of Arch. Nicanor is a doctrine of individual substances - Eidoses. Eidoses in the philosophy of Arch. Nicanor are similar to Leibniz’s Monads, despite their Platonic origin. The paper analyzes how the Arch. Nicanor, conscious of his dependence on Leibnitzianism, draw the line between his doctrine of Eidoses and the Leibniz’s doctrine of Monads. As a result, it is concluded that the Archbishop Nicanor produced such a transformation of Leibnitzianism that became the main characteristic for all subsequent Russian Christian personalism.
